The Graceful Basenji Hound Popularly Known as the Barkless Dog

The Basenji Hound is small and graceful. They are easily recognized by their glistening short coat, tightly curled tail and wrinkled forehead. Their almond-shaped eyes are expressive and convey a variety of subtle human-like emotions.
Basenji Profile (loosercrop)
As they trot they show a long, smooth stride similar to a mini racehorse. And they do NOT bark. Instead, these clever hounds make their feelings known with an odd sound described as something between a chortle and a yodel.

The Basenji is known as one of the oldest breeds of dogs with records of first dogs found in ancient Egypt. A  young female came to the U.S. in 1941 by way of Boston, MA. This female mated to a dog named Boris produced the first American litter of Basenji Hounds.

Provide him with a strong fenced in area for exercise. Corrections should be immediate, consistent and strict and never harsh. Every Basenji puppy should be crate trained. The Basenji dog breed is also known for being very independent and aloof at times. He is alert and careful with strangers, open and calm with friends. He is loving and solicitous with children.

Never approach a Basenji from behind. He prefers to make the first overtures. He is a dog with dainty habits. You may catch him cleaning himself all over like a cat does. He does not have a doggy odor which makes him more ideal as a house pet. (Source: American Kennel Club)

This dog breed appreciates a very clean environment. I recommend using Life's Abundance Biobase Floor Wash:

  • Secret ingredient - microbial grease digestant
  • Effectively rids dirt, grime & odor
  • Safe on tile, carpet, trash bins hampers & more
  • One bottle makes up to 64 gallons of floorwash

Let friendly bacteria do the cleaning for you! Our Microbial Grease Digestant (MGD) Viable Bacterial Cultures live to serve, and they’re hungry for odor-causing organic detritus. Don’t just wipe away muck and grime, eradicate it completely!

This amazing product contains microbial grease digesters that eliminate dirt, grime and odor-causing microscopic debris. Just one bottle contains enough concentrate to make 64 gallons of cleaning product!

Bio-Base FloorWash works extremely well on waxed and polished floors, hardwoods, glazed ceramic tile, concrete, quarry tile, even brick. And best of all, it’s non-toxic, fully biodegradable, has a neutral pH and contains no harmful phosphates. Unlike other serious cleansers, ours emits no noxious odors. Pleasantly scented, with a hint of almonds.

As an added bonus, when you pour the discarded mop water into a sink, the MGD component continues to work, clearing your drain lines from grease build-up and lingering odors.

Safe for use around kids and pets.

And don't forget our pets need Fish Oil Supplementation just as humans. I recommend using Life's Abundance Omega-3 Ultra Pure Fish Oil Supplement:

  • Highest score for purity by third-party lab
  • Ideal concentration of health-promoting EPA & DHA
  • Easy to measure & feed
  • Product of Canada
Not All Pet Fish Oils are Created Equal

Regular supplementation of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) from fish oil can help support your companion animal’s healthy skin, coat, heart, brain eyes and joints. However, numerous supplements on the shelves today do not contain the optimal concentration of fish oil. In addition, many of these supplements are not tested by an independent laboratory to ensure purity and safety.

Ultra-Pure Fish Oil is Better

Our fish oils contain at least 30% EPA and DHA, an ideal concentration for the overall health of your dog or cat. The oil is in a triglyceride form, which is highly bioavailable and without added flavors so it has a natural taste that dogs and cats love.

Our liquid fish oil supplements are effortless to feed compared to gel capsules, which can be difficult to swallow and messy when rejected. The 2-oz. bottle has an easy-to-measure dropper and the 8-oz. bottle has an easy-to-use cup. (A triglyceride fish oil will not have any effect on the plastic dropper or measuring cup.)

Ultra-Pure Fish Oil offers outstanding value. For example, it cost only $.18 a day for a ten-pound cat and only $.37 a day for a 40-lb. dog on Autoship.

Dependable Quality

In its unpurified form, fish oil contains many environmental contaminants, some of which can be harmful to your pet’s health. To purify the oil takes many steps, each one adding to the cost of manufacturing. It is important to buy your fish oil from a company that not only says it purifies the oil, but one that is willing to share the test results from every batch made. It’s the surest way to know what you’re feeding is perfectly safe.

Ultra-Pure Fish Oil for pets are made in a human pharmaceutical facility … the same place as our Fish Oil for people. They are highly concentrated and ultra-pure. Like our Fish Oil for people, each bottle receives a nitrogen flush to remove oxygen from the bottle before it is sealed for ultra freshness. Plus, Ultra-Pure Fish Oils meet or exceed the highest standards in the industry for quality assurance. In fact, each batch of Ultra-Pure Fish Oil for pets is tested by an independent third-party organization (IFOS) and the results are posted right here so you can see the quality, concentration and purity that Ultra-Pure Fish Oil supplements offer.
