The heritage of Biewer Terrier dogs has always been much speculated. They first appeared in a litter of Yorkies bred by Mr. and Mrs. Biewer who had been raising and showing Yorkies for over 20 years. On January 20, 1984, a little blue, white and gold puppy was born to the Yorkie Breeders. They named the puppy "Schneeflocken von Friedheck." This puppy became the start of what is now known the "Biewer Terrier Breed.
He is a little guy or gal who is quick to alert his owners to company, however, do not fear, the Biewer Terrier dogs are not constant barkers. He or she will be extremely dedicated to their family members and "friendly" with strangers.
They are small in stature, yet a hearty, athletic dog and an excellent vermin hunter. An interesting fact about this breed is that they were the first breed to be established as a purebred through "scientific data" rather than pedigree data which is customary.
