Greater Happiness Occurs With Dog Walking

Our dogs need regular exercise. We need regular exercise. Why not kill two birds with one stone and "walk the dog." You will find out walking your dog has more benefits than just exercise. It can make you happy too. When we see how much our dogs enjoy a walk, and I know this to be a fact for myself, it then makes us happy to see our dogs happy. Here are some benefits of walking your dog:

• you both get to smell new and interesting things together
• you both get to check out the sights and sounds around you together
• when you and your dog connect with nature around you, your mood is lifted
• you are more motivated to exercise/walk when you feel like you are doing something special for your dog
• studies show dog owners walk significantly more than people who do not own dogs
• walking definitely manages stress
• just being around dogs lowers stress, add the fact that you are walking with your dog, and you lower stress plus blood pressure and cholesterol levels even more

• dog walking is an excellent way to connect with others around you and do some light socializing that can lead to long term friendships

Tips for safer dog walking:

• your goal should be walking 5 days per week at least thirty minutes per session
• always keep an eye on your dog  using keen supervision at all times
• clean up after your dog
• walk shorter periods of time during heat and/or cold
• don't forget the fresh water for both you and dog
