It seems that this breed is not fully recognized in the United States, although it is listed with American Kennel Club at the present time currently eligible to participate in the Miscellaneous Class and still enrolled in the AKC Foundation Stock Service. Apparently it can be shown in Britain, Canada, Australia and throughout Europe along with three of the closely related breeds which share a heritage with the Laekenois. These are the Tervuren, the Malinois, and the Groenendael.
