Create a Disneyland Play Room for Your Dog to Eliminate Boredom

Don't allow your dogs to get bored. Bored dogs become naughty dogs because they have energy to burn that is not being burned up with stimulating activities.

A secret to a well behaved dog is to provide the dog with appropriate mental and physical stimulation every day. If you don't, you will find your dog finds other ways to entertain himself and these will be ways that are either destructive or annoying.

One solution to a bored dog is to provide the dog with a dog playroom. In his own playroom and regardless of where you are the dog can find ways to relieve boredom as he stays occupied within his play room.

Most indoor pet dogs are social beings. They rather hang out with their humans than anything else, however, we all know humans have many other responsibilities in life that keeps them from being "the dog's playmate." Two dogs that can keep each other company, I say, is always better as well.

Choose a variety of interactive toys likes tugs, balls and many other kinds of dog toys. Keep them organized in ways you can rotate them so the dog does not have the entire pile of toys out at all times. If your dog does have all his toys out at all times, more than likely, he will soon still get bored. 

Rotate his toys, so that each day he has a different group of toys to play with. There are so many different toys on the market today. This task should not be difficult. You might even leave out 2 or 3 at a time rather than a large group. 

Put the rest of them in a box and teach your dog to return his toys to the box. The act of teaching your dog to put his toys away is also a brain/mental stimulating exercise very beneficial for your dog.

When you are gone from the house, consider leaving out treat-releasing balls and puzzle toys designed to make your dog hunt for the treat. If you know your dog gets nervous when you leave the house, leave a TV or radio on in his play room. On the market today there are even shows and music specifically designed for dogs that help to keep his brain and mind occupied and the dog out of trouble.

Consider an interactive camera that allows you to talk to your dog and  give the dog a treat. Yes, believe it or not, within our dog market's bag of tricks today an interactive camera does exist.

If you are unable to give your dog an entire room all his own, consider using baby gates or other enclosures specifically designed to keep your dog in a confined area. Of course, you will need to leave down pee pads in the confined area while you are away from home.

Dog friendly flooring for people who have their dogs confined within hardwood or vinyl flooring includes putting down mats that do not slip. You can use a kid's play area mat for this purpose. These mats are especially useful if your dog runs around a lot within his space.

For rest times, consider placing a semi-enclosed or couch-style cuddly and cozy bed. The cozier you make his rest area all the better it is to encourage him to take a snooze now and then.
