Dogs Should NOT Eat Almonds and Here is Why

Many dogs love the taste of nuts including almonds. Almonds can cause your dog stomach upset. We do eat many things we like knowing what we are eating will cause stomach distress. However, we don't want to subject our dogs to the same treatment.
There are plenty of nutritious snacks and treats we can give our dogs. There is no need to cause he or she additional distress just because he or she loves the taste of Almonds.
Life's Abundance distributes a variety of tasty and nutritious treats. Try feeding your dog their Antioxidant Health Bars. These bars are the perfect health snack for your furry friends.
Life's Abundance Antioxidant Health Bars feature the great taste of apples, peanut butter and honey. They also include oatmeal, brown rice, ground flaxseed, dates, rolled oats, flaxseed oil, eggs, cranberries and carrots.
I think all these flavors combined give them a nice "substitute nutty" taste. The best thing about these bars is you know your dog is receiving healthy nutrition each time you feed one.
Today, our dog product market is overwhelmed by "nutritionally inadequate dog treats." You can rest easy knowing Life's Abundance Antioxidant Health Bars are a healthy alternative canines having flavor our canine partners just adore.

If your dog accidentally gets hold of almonds, even just a few, here are the symptoms to look out for:
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Gas
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fatigue or lethargy
  • General discomfort
  • Obstruction within the esophagus, intestines or windpipe occasionally requiring surgery
The reason almonds like most other nuts can cause stomach upset is the fact they are high in "fat." In fact, dogs can develop pancreatitis, which is a very serious illness requiring vet attention.

If your dog gets hold of "flavored almonds," there are unique risks. Spices and flavorings can irritate your dog's stomach. Large quantities of salt intake can lead to water retention and salt toxicity.

What should you do if your dog eats almonds?
  1. Do not panic if your dog eats one or two almonds. Just watch him closely for symptoms of stomach distress and/or obstruction.
  2. If your dog eats more than just a few almonds before you can catch him in the act, call  your vet or local emergency vet for professional advice.

So far as nutrition as a whole, pet owners are more than ever concerned about what their pets are really eating. This is why Life's Abundance cooks dog food in small batches with safety considerations second-to-none, which ensures pets stay happy and healthy.

If  you raise puppies, the type of food  you feed and send your puppies home on is a crucial decision. Be ahead of your competition and feed the highest quality of food you most possibly can.
