The Power of a Dog's Nose

There has been a lot of research done on how powerful the dog's scent is over humans and other animals. Army researchers especially have found there were no mechanical or electronic devices as effective as a dog in detecting mines, booby traps and explosives. Dogs won the prize for highly effective scent tracking even over various types of pigs, coyotes, deer, red foxes, etc.

Dogs start out their lives learning about their environment almost exclusively by smell and touch. They are born with their eyes close. Their eyes usually don't open until about 2 weeks of age. They find their mother's milk simply by scent. Within a short time they know their mother's scent from other objects. You can test an infant puppy by taking the mom away for a period of time, then placing her back in the area with her puppies and her scent is the smell of safety and comfort to her puppies who most likely have been crying because of her absence, but immediately upon smelling her will become quiet.

You can also comfort your dogs with special meals that have a delicious smell. Try feeding your dogs Life's Abundance Canned Turkey and Shrimp. Sit back and watch how much they enjoy just the smell of the tender turkey and succulent shrimp in a delicious broth. It is chock full of healthy fats and minerals plus nutritious eggs and cheddar cheese. You might be tempted to take a bit yourself!

Your dog will flip for Turkey & Shrimp in Broth, a savory omelet-inspired meal featuring turkey, shrimp, eggs, red skinned potatoes, red bell peppers and cheddar cheese. And the goodness doesn’t end there! In fact, canines can’t resist the delightful flavor of this delicious medley, seasoned with just the right amount of basil and parsley.
