Do Not Underestimate the Value of Vitamin C in Your Dog's Diet!

Vitamin C recommendations for humans has long been a staple in our diets. Most of us know the many benefits of getting enough Vitamin C.

Does your dog require Vitamin C like us humans?
Many Holistic vets boast about the benefits of vitamin C, while others argue about the necessity. Since I am a Life's Abundance representative and the formulator of our pet products is headed by a holistic vet, I am on board with saying dogs like humans do need Vitamin C in their diets.

Humans can easily get Vitamin C recommendations from fresh fruits, vegetables and supplements regularly to avoid illness.

By contrast to humans, scientific studies tell us dogs can produce Vitamin C in their bodies. That being said, nutritionists have long said it unnecessary to add Vitamin C to the dog's diet and until recently few dog food makers added Vitamin C to their products for its nutritive value.

Recent clinical observations tell us when dogs are sick or stressed, they can loose Vitamin C rapidly. One study done in 1942 noted dogs with skin diseases usually have very low amounts of vitamin C. Other research reveals Vitamin C blood levels are almost non-existent in dogs with fevers and dogs who exercise excessively such as sled dogs after a race or hunting dogs in the middle of hunting season.
We can conclude from these studies that "stress in dogs" is the best known cause of Vitamin C depletion. Stress just like in humans can come in many forms in dogs. Some examples of a dog's stress are:
  • pregnancy and feeding puppies
  • hard working dogs like those used to herd, hunt or track
  • vaccinations
  • injuries
  • tail-docking

  • ear cropping
  • any kind of illness
  • emotional stress from relocation, weaning, or demanding training
Researchers tell us NOW that dogs supplemented with Vitamin C show greater resistance to disease and better ability to recover from injuries, stress or illness. That being said, pet owners are probably better off making sure their dog's diet has adequate amounts of Vitamin C.
Life's Abundance has three supplements containing Vitamin C. I recommend feeding all three supplements plus the dog food formula suitable to your size of dog and its individual needs.
Please read on to learn about how these supplements that can be placed in their food or given as daily treats can benefit your dog's health.
Life's Abundance Agility Supplement
The ability to move freely and comfortably is crucial to your companion animal’s well-being. Unfortunately, aching and stiff joints are often a symptom of growing old for them as well as us. And some breeds are simply more prone to these issues and need extra support.

Typical supplements treat the joint as an isolated target. This approach proves inadequate because joints are part of a complex, interdependent system. To effectively address joint health, grain-free Agility Formula supports the entire musculoskeletal system.

This formula helps maintain healthy joint cartilage and connective tissue, and to aid in the production of healthy synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints. This supplement features Glucosamine, MSM, sea mussels and hyaluronic acid. Agility Formula is a holistic, multi-action joint support formula containing scientifically tested ingredients.

Glucosamine helps maintain and promote joint and connective tissue health. It has been shown to be essential in the healthy development and ongoing maintenance of connective tissue and synovial fluid. Research studies indicate that Glucosamine supports healthy joint flexibility, mobility and lubrication. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a natural source of organic sulfur, integral to many body functions and particularly vital to the maintenance of a healthy musculoskeletal system.

Sea mussels also contain Chondroitin Sulfate, which works in tandem with Glucosamine. And hyaluronic acid (from kollaGen II-xsTM) helps to keep cartilage strong and flexible to better cushion joints.

All of these nutrients work synergistically with the other ingredients in Agility Formula (vitamins E and C, boswellia serrata, alfalfa leaf extract, chondroitin sulfate, manganese and boron) to provide for the comprehensive joint needs of dog or cats, to help maintain the health of bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons.

With no fillers or additives, Agility Formula has a delectable flavor they’ll love! Join thousands of satisfied customers, and help your companion animals lead a healthier and happier life with Agility Formula.

Life's Abundance Skin and Coat Supplement:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids from flaxseed & fish oil
  • A total of seven B vitamins
  • Vitamins E, C & zinc
  • Irresistibly tasty, chewable tablets
How would you rate your companion animal’s skin and coat health? Does your pet have …

  • Dry, flaky skin or a dull, brittle coat
  • Oily, foul smelling skin or a matted coat
  • Thin coat, excessive hair loss or red, blotchy skin
  • Excessive scratching (especially, seasonally)

Keeping your companion animal’s skin healthy and coat shiny can prove very challenging. There’s more to skin-and-coat health than regular shampooing and daily brushing.

Even though the skin is the body’s largest organ, it takes a backseat to other organs when it comes to nutrition. In fact, the nutrients eaten by your pet go directly to the other vital organs first (such as the brain, heart, lungs and liver); as a consequence, the skin often suffers. Even if you are already feeding your companion animal a high-quality, nutritionally dense food, sometimes it’s just not enough to ensure skin and coat health. In fact, problems relating to the skin and coat are much more common than you might think as they account for a significant percentage of trips to the vet.

Skin & Coat Formula Can Help!

A comprehensive nutritional supplement, Skin & Coat Formula for Dogs and Cats addresses skin and coat health in a holistic way. Unlike ordinary skin and coat supplements that contain fatty acids and a few other ingredients, this formula supplies a whole host of additional nutrients that work together to address the complex factors that play a role in supporting skin and coat health. The nutrients featured in this formula can yield several health-promoting benefits. Here are just some of the highlights of how this supplement works …

  • In addition to skin-nourishing omega-3 fatty acids, this formula contains vitamin E and zinc, which help increase the effectiveness of the fatty acids.
  • The vitamin A in this formula helps cells to grow and supports the naturally-occurring layer of oil on the skin, helping to keep it healthy and supple.
  • This formula also contains vitamin C, which supports healthy collagen development.
  • And to top it off, our new and improved Skin & Coat now contains seven different B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, d-pantothenic acid, niacin, pyridoxine, B12 and biotin), all of which work with the other nutrients in this formula to aid in the many complex chemical reactions required for healthy skin and coat.

If your companion animal’s skin or coat is less than perfect, try a bottle of  Skin & Coat Formula with a comprehensive line-up of nutrients that work together to help support healthy skin and a shiny coat.
