The Cairn Terrier Best Known as "Toto" from the Wizard of Oz

The Carin Terrier is a small, hardy working dog. He was originally bred to aid Scottish farmers in ridding their properties of pests. Today, they use their instinctive abilities to excel in obedience, agility, terrier and tracking trials. The breed has a famous movie star dog named "Toto" who played in the movie of the "Wizard of Oz."


They have a general personality of being cheerful, alert, busy and independent-minded. Right in the face they look like a fox! Energy level is active and they are curious little dogs. They will appreciate lots of walks and place to explore with you. They are generally said to be good with children. Supervision is advised when they are with children. They shed seasonally. Grooming chores will be occasional. They train well, and a life expectancy of 13 to 15 years. They are not barkers, but will bark when necessary.

The job of Carin Terrier early on in the 1800's was mainly for bolting otter, foxes and other vermin from among rocks, cliffs and ledges on the wild shores of their misty Western Isles of Scotland. The Dignified Bulldog

He or she is known best for their loose-jointed, shuffling gait and massive, short-faced head. The bulldog is not your typical lap dog. He is a medium size dog although he can weigh up to 50 lbs. To best of our knowledge bulldogs came from the British Isles. He got the name "bull" due to being used in the sport of bull baiting.

House train your bulldog puppy immediately after you welcome he or she into your home. Use a crate to help facilitate the process. Take the puppy outside immediately after meals and when he wakes up from sleeping naps or otherwise. Start leash and collar training right away.

Use patience and gentleness. The bulldog is very intelligent and tends to do his own thinking regardless of how hard you try to think for him, he will probably out-think you first. Take the lead immediately or else your bulldog may end up leading you around instead.
