The Gentle, Spirited and Bold Glen of Imaal Terrier

The Glen of Imaal Terrier dogs are scruffy, sturdy, low to the ground terriers. Their coats are wiry and no frill. They have a broad head and bowed front legs that makes you think this is a working farm dog, yet surprisingly and ridiculously cute. You won't be able to resist scratching behind the ears and giving them a little pat on their well muscled rump.

Feed them a high quality dog food appropriate to their age such as those offered through Life's Abundance. Use tasty and nutritious treats for training, but don't over feed them treats. Use Life's Abundance Tasty Rewards Training Treats for best results. If your Glen of Imaal Terrier picks up too much weight, try them on Life's Abundance Weight Loss Formula. Of course you should always make clean, fresh water available.

Their coat consist of a rough outer coat and a soft undercoat that will require moderate brushing weekly to prevent matting especially around the ears, neck, legs and belly. Use Life's Abundance Bath Fresh Mist to help keep the coat fresh, shiny and mat free. Strip the Glen of Imaal Terrier two or three times per year and you will experience much less shedding. Use Life's Abundance All Natural Revitalizing Shampoo for superior results. You will love the fresh scent this shampoo leaves behind.

Exercise requirements: Moderate. Do not rush them into strenuous exercise due to their slightly curved front legs. Short walks on a leash is fine. Prevent Glen of Imaal Terrier puppies from jumping from off sofas, doing down steep stairs or engaging in anything that might put a lot of stress on their growing front legs and joints.

Glens are very smart and love people. They don't normally get close to other dogs. Out of all other terriers, the Glen of Imaal will be the quietest. They are brave, and sometimes stubborn. They learn quickly, but may get bored with repetition. Keep training sessions short around five minutes two or three times a day.
