The Teenage Dog Presents Us With New Challenges

Puppies present us with some crazy/relentless behaviors. What about when that puppy grows into a teenager? The dog teenage years can be just as challenging as puppy days. The dog teenager period of time presents dog owners with a ton of changes. These changes include but are not limited to:

  • biological
  • physical
  • psychological makeup
Watch out for some very challenging moments. Of course it is not all gloom and doom. Each challenging feature of the dog teenage period of time has opposite awesome moments in time that makes it still so worthwhile living with a pet dog.
The dog teenage period of time begins around six months of age and continues until the dog reaches physical maturity around 2 to 3 years of age. Probably the most challenging behavior issues will be seen between 6 to 12 months of age. A dog's hormones has a lot of to do with behavior, however, even neutered dogs will exhibit these same teenage years behaviors.

What you can do during your dog's teenage years is:
  • Bonding with your teenage dog is very important. If you have had your dog since puppyhood, you are ahead in the area of bonding making his or her teenage years much easier to tolerate because of this bond. He or she should have learned some basic training such as housetraining, leash training, and more.
  • The teething period is almost done. This is a true big plus for you and your pet dog. Teething usually is complete at 7 to 9 months of age. Of course, this means the dog has become pro at chewing. You should continue to provide your dog with high quality nutritious and tasty chews. I hope you have been providing the dog with healthy and tasty chew treats such as those offered through Life's Abundance. One of my favorites and my dog's favorites is the Porky Puff chews:
Porky Puff Dog Chews

Dogs can’t resist the rich aroma of our delicious pig snouts. Packed with high-quality protein, Porky Puffs chewable treats are non-greasy and contain no artificial preservatives or flavors. And with no artificial colors, you won’t have to worry about hard-to-remove stains in your carpet!

They are easily digestible and therefore a safe alternative to rawhide, which can cause choking, throat irritations and potentially dangerous intestinal blockages.

Since the digestive system is the first line of immune defense, treating your dog to a Porky Puff won’t put a strain on his or her health, like other highly-processed products on the market today. You’ll feel better providing a treat they’ll love, while helping to maintaining a healthy digestive system. And Porky Puffs are appropriate for dogs of all ages.

Give your sweet pup something to be truly thankful for – yummy Porky Puffs!

You might begin to notice your teenage dog has a different sleep schedule. Puppies sleep a lot. Puppies spend more time asleep than awake. Your adolescent dog will seem to have an endless supply of energy and will definitely be awake more than asleep. Incorporate lots of short, fun training sessions and brain games to help tire out your teenage dog as well as to keep its mind and brain healthy. Be sure to provide him with nutritious and tasty reward treats such as those offered through Life's Abundance. They have a new treat called Turkey Hearts Freeze-Dried Treats:
Fans of primitive diets will love this single-ingredient, grain-free treat. And the flavor will make your doggo howl with delight!

The freeze-drying process preserves the robust, wholesome flavors that dogs crave, sealing in all the vitamins and minerals found naturally in our pasture-raised turkeys. With zero carbs, fillers or artificial anything, Turkey Hearts tempt the taste buds of even the fussiest eaters. Ideally sized, their meaty sumptuousness is a powerful motivator for good behavior!

If your dog has been hankering for something fundamentally nourishing, wish fulfilled!
A perfect alternative for pups who’ve developed allergies to chicken-based products.
You can’t beat a treat that’s all heart!
Socializing your adolescent dog needs to continue. Even if you adopted an adolescent dog it is important to socialize him. Carefully expose your dog to different places, people, other animals and different situations. The more you can expose him to, the better. Things like riding in a car associated with something positive is great training for the teenager dog.
Don't be alarmed if your teenager become wary or fearful of things or situations that he previously had no issues with as this can be normal. These times may come and go several times during the teenage years. Handle these moments with calmness and patience. Don't force him to confront the fear and don't scold him. Give him time to process whatever scared him. If he barks, that is fine. If he wants to run away from the fearful object, that is fine as well and not at all abnormal for the teenage dog. Just cuddle him and talk to him with a gentle voice to help calm him.
You might notice your teenage dog becomes more interested in going for walks. This is good for you and your dog. By now, he or she should be leash trained enough to go just about anywhere you want to go. Expose him to new walking trails and environments while you enjoy the same. Your bond with each other will grow. Resist the urge to let him off leash unless you are in a completely protected area where you know he cannot become lost. And remember to bring along the treats for times in which he does so well  you want to reinforce that good behavior.
You will be transitioning now from puppy formula foods to adult formulas (once your dog is a mature adult).
Choose your commercial dog food wisely. It is a personal choice. Consider only a high-quality dog food formulated to your dog's age and activity level. Working dogs require different formulas than sedentary house pets. A puppy requires different nutrition than a senior pet.

Life's Abundance distributes an excellent high quality Adult formula to fit your dog's size you might be interested in trying. Life's Abundance Pet Food Products are formulated by Dr. Jane Bicks, a Holistic Vet.

We put customers first by providing world class products and customer service. We put our Field Reps first by providing a compensation plan that is uniquely structured to be fair and scalable, whether you want to sell products to a group of friends or build a large organization. We don’t believe in binary compensation because it favors the corporation and large distributors.

COMPENSATION PLAN ADVANTAGES

Our compensation plan has no mandatory personal purchase requirements. We don't want you buying stuff you don't need. Additionally, approximately 75% of our revenue comes from people who order on a recurring basis. This is possible because we offer high quality, consumable products with superior customer service. We designed our compensation plan to reward you for this by paying out the highest percentage on customer purchases.
