The Braque du Bourbonnais is an Ancient Breed

He is considered one of the most ancient pointers of the pointing breeds developed in France during the 15th century and coming to the United States in 1988. From the beginning, the Braque du Bourbonnais has been known for its keen hunting instincts. It is felt they originated from the ancient Spanish pointer. Each breed of pointers in France is named for the region in which they were developed. He has a calm and gentle demeanor and is ideally suited for the foot hunter. This breed is relatively small with a short coat. Use Life's Abundance Revitalizing Shampoo for bath time. They are in the AKC Sporting Group. (source: American Kennel Club)

The appearance of the Braque du Bourbonnais is quite interesting. They have a rustic appearance and are sometimes born with a short tail and a coat ticked with liver or fawn. They are also one of the gun dogs.

The Braque du Bourbonnais is rounded in every direction having lateral side. The axes of the skull and muzzle are parallel, just slightly divergent towards the front.

Many times people forget there are products available to keep the ears clean and to prevent serious problems that may require costly vet treatments. Every dog breed can benefit from Life's Abundance ear cleaner. Used on a regular basis can help you prevent painful ear conditions that will require vet attention. The Braque du Bourbonnais is no different in respect to keeping the ears clean.

The Classic and Ancient Pointer, The Bracco Italiano Dog

Mainly in the northern regions of the peninsula the Bracco Italiano is known as one of the classic and ancient pointer dogs. This breed had been present since the middle age and became widespread in the Renaissance period.

The Bracco Italiano dogs were held in very high regard by nobility and royal families during the Renaissance period of time in Italy. They were bred by the Gonzaga and Medici families. The puppies born into their kennels were sought out by nobles and royal families. Today, they are assigned to the American Kennel Club Sporting Group.

Italian hunters originally bred the Bracco Italiano dogs to drive game into nets. When the gun was invented, the role of these dogs developed into that of the modern day.

Interesting is that the Bracco Italiano as a hunter of game would cover ground in an elongated flowing trot while holding his nose up to the wind scenting for game. This is absolutely fascinating to me. (source: American Kennel Club)

I recommend starting the Bracco Italian dogs on Life's Abundance Large Breed Puppy System.

Chews That are Bad for Your Dog and Chews That are Good For Your Dog

Chewing is an important part of your dog's life. It is good for his oral and mental health. Chewing helps keep the teeth clean and gives his body exercise and keeps his mind occupied. Encouraging your dog to chew on a regular basis on something safe will also help prevent problem behaviors. For example, a dog who chews for 30 minutes is more apt to take a nap rather than getting into some kind of trouble doing something he or she should not do.

Dog chewing is also good for owners in that while your dog happily chews, you can sit back and relax, read a good book, watch a little T.V. knowing your dog is safe at your feet chewing on something safe and good for he or she.

Some of the items not good for a dog to chew include:

1. tennis balls
2. rawhide chews
3. cow's hooves
4. real animal bones

Let us first take a look at tennis balls and why they are more harm than good for your dog. Tennis ball chewing can cause serious dental problems as the wool and nylon is abrasive and can wear down tooth enamel with prolonged use.

As tennis balls bounce along the ground, they pick up grit and grime. For aggressive chewers, the repetitions of gnawing down on the tennis ball can wear down the enamel so completely that the tooth pulp becomes exposed creating a painful condition that can only be fixed by a root canal or tooth extraction.

Most dogs love a good game of fetch and it is excellent exercise as well as mental stimulation for both you and your dog companion. Use a plain rubber ball instead. A plain rubber ball won't accumulate as much dirt as a tennis ball.

Rawhide chews are a definite no no for any dog, big or small. They are made from compressed layers of cow's skin. The concerns here are harsh chemical processes like bleaching that makes the rawhide chew more susceptible to bacteria contamination. Rawhide chews are also a choking hazard. They are not easily digested and can cause stomach upset. Dogs who are allowed to chew rawhide chews may experience tooth fractures or intestinal obstruction from the small fragments bitten off the rawhide chew.

Cow's hooves is much like the rawhide chews. Don't go there. Don't purchase these for your dog to chew on no matter how inexpensive they may be, just don't allow your dogs to chew on cow's hooves. Here is why. There is danger in breaking a tooth. There is danger in ingesting small fragments that can lacerate the intestines and there are choking risks.

Real animal bones is another chew you should never give your dog. The hazards are much the same as for the above mentioned chews, choking, possible bacterial contamination and overall digestion problems may result.

Don't make your dog sick with any of the above chews and most of all keep your dog alive, happy and well.

Appropriate chews include those produced by Life's Abundance.

Buffalo Chew Treats Quality Assurance
Some consumers feel hesitant about feeding new foods or treats to their dogs, especially if they’re unfamiliar with the seller’s protocols for bringing safe products to the market. We want you to know, with Life’s Abundance, you can feel completely at ease about feeding any of our products because our safety measures are of primary concern.

While the majority of our ingredient suppliers and manufacturers are based in the U.S.A., the quality and safety of a product isn’t as simple as knowing its country of origin.

For example, our all-natural buffalo chew treats are produced in India, but that’s not the whole story. The factory scores a Grade A on all of their annual inspections, audited by the SGS Group, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, setting the benchmark for quality and integrity. The buffalo chews also are tested to ensure that they’re free from e.coli, salmonella, yeast and mold contamination.

In addition, our premium buffalo products undergo an extra level of protection to prevent food-borne illnesses and ensure safety. The chew treats are irradiated according to protocols implemented by U.S. FDA standards. The FDA has evaluated this food processing technique for more than 30 years and has clearly demonstrated its safety. The World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have also endorsed the safety of this food treatment.

We are certain that you will find our grass-fed, free-range buffalo chew treats are healthy additions to your dog’s diet.

Mouthing Off – A Review of Canine Chews from Life's Abundance on Vimeo.

The Beautiful Solid Brown Boykin Spaniel Gun dog

The Boykin Spaniels are medium sized. They are larger and rangier than Cockers yet more compact than Springers. They are easily recognized by their hallmark solid-brown coat. The colors range from a rich liver to a luscious chocolate. They have large feathery ears that hang close to the cheeks giving an expression of soulful intelligence.

They move effortless and balanced typical of durable gun dogs. The Boykin Spaniel was bred to work the lakes and swamps of their homeland of South Carolina. Their web toes help them to swim like a seal rather than a dog. His credentials include criteria that no other canine can honestly claim. Originally bred by South Carolina hunters he was developed at first to be the ideal dog for hunting "wild turkeys" believe it or not in the Wateree River Swamp during early 1900s. They now adapt beautifully to the dove fields, the duck marshes and the home fires of his modern day master.

It is important to note here that most Boykin Spaniel dogs have a special personality (I can see this in their eyes and face). They live life enthusiastically possessing field abilities that no other dog can match. They usually become extremely devoted to their owners. They can be trained to participate in and excel in most all AKC performance events including Spaniel Hunt Tests, Spaniel Field Trials, Working Ability Certifications, Tracking Tests, Obedience Trials, Rally Trials and Agility Trials.

Boykin Spaniel also serve quite well as therapy and service dogs. Many more of them compete with great success in conformation shows. (source: American Kennel Club)

Life's Abundance's Strong Commitment Toward Pet Health

Like many companies, the Life's Abundance Company started small. In 1998, Dennis and Carol Berardi co-founded Trilogy International, now Life's Abundance with a commitment to offer exceptional health products for people, the planet and pets.

From the outset, they employed two other people, including Stephen Berardi, Dennis’ brother. Together, they worked out of the office of Dennis and Carol’s home in Palm City, FL.

In 1999, Dennis and Carol began searching for qualified product formulators. Within a few weeks the duo met with fate, at a pet fair where one of the nation’s leading holistic veterinarians, Dr. Jane Bicks, was in attendance. Soon, a great partnership was formed. With Dr. Jane onboard, the company quickly added more professionals – Ann McEver, Linda Logue and Lester Thornhill – each with their own areas of expertise. It wasn’t long before they realized they had too many people working in that one-room office, and soon they moved their new “home office” in Stuart, FL. Soon, there were more hires and product was flying off the shelves.

The next phase of development came when George and Cris Jochum became major shareholders. Based upon George’s extensive business development experience, the Berardi’s asked him to assume the mantle of President and CEO. Under George’s direction, the company flourished … in fact, Life's Abundance has never failed to make a profit since 2003. Soon, the corporate headquarters was relocated to Palm City, FL, to accommodate an increasing need for space, both for new employees and growing inventory supplies.

In August of 2008, Lester Thornhill was promoted from Senior VP of IT to Life's Abundance CEO and President. Dennis and Carol Berardi ceased their overseeing of day-to-day activities of the home office, and now they commit all of their energies to supporting our extensive network of Field Reps. George retired in 2012 and Cris succeeded him as Board Chairman.

Throughout the years, the company has continued to grow and expand. As sales have increased, so have the numbers of employees and warehouses. Growth and improvements in technology have also led to numerous improvements in our products, services and business processes over the years.

In October of 2010, the company officially changed its name to Life's Abundance, Inc.

Life's Abundance is one of the first pet food companies to prominently feature antioxidants, prebiotics and probiotics in their pet food formulas. This accomplishment has been ground breaking innovations for the pet product industry.

Life's Abundance has also been deeply concerned about the prevalence of artificial colors and flavors in many commercial pet foods. The dependence upon artificial preservatives relied upon gluten, corn and wheat as the cornerstone ingredients to many commercial pet foods.

These grains are highly susceptible to dangers due to mold toxins. You do not want your companion animals congesting these harmful substances.

At Life's Abundance they have never used artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and they never will take short cuts when it comes to making premium pet food.

Life's Abundance continues in the year of 2017 to be pioneers passionate about providing innovative highly effective products for your dogs and cats to help them live healthy and happy for as long as possible.

The Alert and Curious Boxer Dogs

If you have ever seen a well-conditioned Boxer he or she is an awesome sight to see. The males can stand as high as 25 inches at the shoulder. Females as usual are a little shorter. Muscles on the boxer dogs ripple beneath their short, tight-fitting coat. They have dark brown eyes and wrinkled foreheads, both of these characteristics give the Boxer dog breed an alert and curious look.

The Boxer is an athlete and moves like one as well. They are powerful, moving smoothly and gracefully. Colors can be fawn (tan to mahogany-red) or brindle (like tiger stripes) with white markings.

The Boxer has a heritage known throughout the whole of Europe since the 16th century. He reached perfection in Germany during the past hundred years. Prior, his ancestors were hardly recognized as Boxers. Evidence reveals the Boxer as one of the many descendants of the old fighting dog of the high valleys of Tibet.

They are patient and spirited with children, but also very protective, making them a popular choice for family life.

They have a heritage as a chaser of wild game. You can expect them to spend some time jumping and leaping about. As young puppies, they may be in constant need of correction to teach them to stay down. They need daily exercise. They are very intelligent and tolerant of repetitious commands, although they may consider these commands "boring." They are known to have a mind of their own and are excellent at solving problems. For this dog, I would first choose the Life's Abundance Buffalo Lungs healthy chews. However, try them all and find the exact ones your Boxer likes the best.
