The Boykin Spaniels are medium sized. They are larger and rangier than Cockers yet more compact than Springers. They are easily recognized by their hallmark solid-brown coat. Originally bred by South Carolina hunters he was developed at first to be the ideal dog for hunting "wild turkeys" believe it or not in the Wateree River Swamp during early 1900s. They now adapt beautifully to the dove fields, the duck marshes and the home fires of his modern day master.
