The German Shorthaired Pointer is Friendly, Smart and Willing to Please

The German Shorthaired Pointer will weigh anywhere between 55 and 70 pounds. The coat is short and flat with a dense undercoat protected by stiff guard hairs that make the coat resistant to water and allows for keeping him cool in hot weather and warm in colder climates. He or she can be an agile hunter who excels in both the field and water. He was also developed to be a dog well suited to family life.

Feed them a high quality dog food appropriate to age (puppy, adult or senior) such as the formulas offered through Life's Abundance. A German Shorthaired Pointer puppy will need to be fed more than twice per day. An adult should fair well on a morning and evening meal. For variety try adding in Life's Abundance high quality and tasty wet foods such as Turkey and Shrimp in Broth, Chicken and Crab in Sauce or Pork and Vension Grain Free Recipe.

Avoid feeding the German Shorthaired Pointers immediately after running or other vigorous exercise. Allow them to rest about an hour after eating or drinking before engaging in exercise of any kind.

The German Shorthaired Pointer is an easy to groom dog breed. He or she will require a good once-over with a brush or grooming glove every few days. Use the Life's Abundance Bath Fresh Mist in between baths to freshen the coat and help keep a continuous shine. A gentle shampoo such as Life's Abundance Revitalizing Shampoo is best for an occasional bath. Do not overlook cleaning the ears. For best results use Life's Abundance all natural ear cleaner.
