The Loyal and Independent Hanoverian Scenthound Dog

This dog is calm and self assured. He or she can be sensitive with his handler plus choosy and/or discerning with strangers. The Hanoverian Scenthound excels in tracking work having a strong loyalty to the hunter in charge.


His original birth place was Germany.

He is of medium-large size, very well proportioned and powerful. The best of specimens will have strong muscles fore and hind limbs enabling him for tireless work. The broad, deep chest gives him plenty of room for his lungs to function adequately and enables him to endure long, strenuous chases.

He looks serious with a slightly wrinkled forehead and clear, dark eyes which are typical features of the Hanoverian Scenthound.

Color of the coat can vary from a pale fawn color to a dark brindle looking almost black.

The Hamiltonstovare is a Versatile Scent Hound

The Hamiltonstovare's main job role in life in Sweden was to hunt hare and fox. Today they can be found in the show ring. Their stunning color makes them a stunning show dog. They have been used in America as service dogs since the late 90's. They enjoy close bonds with their people in whatever capacity they serve.


The Hmiltonstovare dogs are hunters, show dogs, and make good pets as well. When used as a hound they follow their nose wherever it goes and do not return for a long time making leashes and fences a necessity in their environments. 

They are unlike other scent hounds in that they have an extreme high prey drive for both scent and sight. They make excellent lure coursing dogs. At home they are a lazy, low maintenance dog that rarely sheds. They are motivated by food which makes training easier despite them being a bit stubborn.

The Field Spaniel is Sweet, Sensitive and Docile

• The Field Spaniel looks a lot like the Cocker, Springer and Sussex spaniels. They have a beautiful glossy coat either black, some shade of liver or a combination of the two. Their long, feathery ears frame a facial expression speaking out to all of a grave, gentle intelligence.
  
• Their personalities are sweet and their nature is of a sensitive soul and a bit of independent spirit that makes them interesting. You can trust the Field Spaniel with your kids. They are tolerant of other animals around them and responsive to training. In the home you will notice a tranquil house dog, playful and one who also enjoys a good back yard romp with just one person or the entire family. They are noted to be extremely "docile."
